More satellites
This morning/afternoon I played 2 of those WSOP double shootouts and a satellite to the $500K weekly on Party.
In the first double shootout, I got 3rd at the first table when I lost a race with TT vs. AJs in a pot that would have given me about 2/3 of the chips in play. In the second double shootout, I got 6th at the final table when I lost a race with 99 vs. KQo that also wold have given me 2/3 of the chips in play with 5 left. I would have had a stranglehold on that 2nd one.
In the Party $500K sat, I ended up getting 4th (5 seats). It was great to see justice handed down in such a swift manner to the donkey who got 6th. This guy had about 1/3 of the chips in play with 15 players left. But he kept raising every pot, calling raises with trash, etc. He ended up losing a monster pot to the guy in 2nd place when we were 7 or 8 handed. It went something like this --
2nd place min-raises from the button, I fold the SB, CL calls the BB (pot is about 14K). Flop comes 3c4s4c. CL bets about 10K, button raises all in to about 65K. CL tanks and finally ends up calling with 3d7d. 2nd place has AKo and hits the A on the turn to make the former CL a shorty.
This hand can basically summarize the way these people were playing on the bubble. The CL and 2nd place guys were raising every pot and calling raises despite having 100K and 70K of the 360K in play. It was almost as though they had no idea that we were playing a satellite.
