Home game, other stuff

Played in the home game tonight, which was a $10 NLH tourney with 7 people. We start with 15K chips and blinds of 50/100, so there's a ton of play at the beginning. I got 7th. Every time I flopped something, the same guy would have flopped 2 pair with his K3s or whatever he was calling raises with. Frustrating. Since I am the host, I figured I would get the laptop and play around while everyone else finished.

So I played another WSOP double shootout. I won my first table, but I had to get pretty lucky against a relatively tough heads up player to win. I actually got in with 92s against A9o on a 6c7s9c board. I very seriously considered folding, but there were too many draws that could jam on that flop, so I called, got lucky, and made the final table. I was coasting along nicely after knocking out some guy with KK vs. A8 on a 8-high board. How this guy made the final table by calling unknown players' EP raises with A8o is beyond me, but there we were. I was also able to take some nice chunks with 22 on a 28T rainbow board, with AA on a T-high board, and I knocked another fellow out with A9o vs. A4o on a 4s9hKh board (he actually called all in). Then things went sour. Observe the 2 hands that led to my demise --

Obviously I got played like a fiddle, but I think folding here is really weak. And obviously I can't call and give bluffs and draws a cheap shot at my weak hand. Any suggestions on a better way to play this? I can't think of a better way...

I also played the $7K stud tourney on Party and took 19th out of ~310 for $56. Was doing well, but some guy ran me down in a heads up pot with a flush draw for most of my chips. I know, I should be happy to get all my chips into the pot in that spot. Then I couldn't beat 899 with AK7 for my last 3 small bets. Playing stud online is fun -- people play the game really badly. You see people in the money in these tourneys who never fold before 5th street, and people raising the river with hands like tens up against a guy who's bet the whole way with an obvious big pair.

I played a lot of stud8 for a few months a little over a year ago, but I stopped for some reason. Maybe I should get make an effort to play more games besides hold'em. I'm fairly competent at any game that isn't some kind of draw poker, and I've had great results in PLO, Stud and Stud8 in particular. I think I'll make an effort to play more of a variety of tournaments.
