Plan for moving up limits
I decided today that I'm moving up my regular play from $2/$4 6-max to $3/$6 6-max. How thrilling. I've been beating the $2/$4 games for about 3.5 BB/100 for the past few months and my bankroll is definitely big enough to handle it the move, so here goes.
I actually tried to move up briefly a few months ago and it didn't go so well. I got my ass kicked for a like a thousand hands and decided to move back down. I think it was more that I was running bad, but we'll see. I played some $3/$6 6-Max today and won about 30BBs in 100 hands. I was getting hit by the deck, but it certainly doesn't hurt the confidence.
I really need to be playing higher limits in cash games (and tournaments too I guess). By most published standards, I should be playing something like $10/$20 limit hold'em and $50 buyin tournaments. I don't play that high because I'm not really willing to accept any risk of going broke. Also, I built my bankroll mostly by playing tournaments. I've tried recently to become more competent at cash games, since they are a more steady form of income than tournaments.
I've also decided that I'm going to stress the bankroll a little bit more. I plan on moving up to the next limit when I have 1000 big bets for that limit. Also, I'd like to be playing $5/$10 by about the middle of June (when my summer break begins), which gives me a pretty specific goal to shoot for.

it's about time. sick of hearing your "i won so many hands and only made $50" stories :) just kidding man, I admire your patience, now kick some ass
Thanks slik. Now the stories will be much more thrilling, something like -- "I won so many hands and made $75."
So far I am kicking ass at $3/$6, up almost 80 big bets in in a couple thousand hands. We'll see how long it can last...
